Change The World: Volume 1 Issue 3: Green Products

As you might have guessed, this just isn't going to stop. This might only be the third issue, but there are millions of issues out there that need to be addressed. I might not be able to make too much of a difference alone, but I know that there are people that read my blog. It might not be as interesting but if just half of the people that I have added as friends did just one of these things that I talk about, it would be a step in the right direction to make this world a better place. This one goes out to my little sister whom I love eternally. She showed me what it’s like to love someone unconditionally and for that I owe her more than words could say. I'm going to start by trying to give her the world (or at least make this one better).

"Today we’re seeing that climate change is about more than a few unseasonably mild winters or hot summers.  It’s about the chain of natural catastrophes and devastating weather patterns that global warming is beginning to set off around the world.  The frequency and intensity of which are breaking records thousands of years old."

— Barack Obama

Green Products

Here’s how that can be done. Again, normally stuff that is good for you tastes bad. The same is true for products that are good for the environment; they cost more. However, a little bit of cost now will save a lot in the future. Almost every cleaning company now is coming out with a green product line. It’s basically a version of their bleach, soap, detergent, and whatever chemical that is less toxic, biodegradable, and environmentally safer. Of course they are still cleaners so they are still harmful to the world just to a less degree. So you still can’t drink them or let your kids play with them or anything like that. But they won’t do as much damage as older products do. Here is the thing about them though that can make buying them a better choice (if the environmental stuff just doesn't do it for you): prices change based on supply and demand. Most people understand this from basic economics. The prices are slightly higher for them now because they aren't in high demand but they are going down gradually. As more and more people start buying them, the price will do down because they will be produced more and readily available. So if buying them now seems too much of a burden, think about how shortly they can be down to the same price at the bottle of Clorox® that you’re buying now if more and more people buy them. And guess what? The Green Works® line is actually made by Clorox® too! This company really understands business and is actually changing to help the planet.

I guess my last thought about this is give it a shot. They clean just as well but you won’t be putting thousands of gallons of toxic chemicals that go into our water supply and kill off vegetation worldwide. The choice is yours, so do it!
